Does anyone know of a way to achieve a similar effect to this , but a lot faster.. this seems to take an age to load in java:

runs ok on this machine, but as said flash might be a better alternative, Java performance is always questionable in my experience and you cant always make the assumption someone has the JVM installed, the flash runtime is tiny compared to a JVM install.
