Question

I am trying to copy all my saved mail messages that were in my old computer to my new one (both outlook express). I managed to find the .dbx files and I could save them on my new machine but I can't figure out how to get them into outlook express?

Any ideas?

F
PS transferring the address book was easy though.

Question

Copy all of the dbx files to a temporary folder on the new computer. Open OE and after setting up your mail account, go to the File menu and select Import. When prompted select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then select the "Import mail from an OE6 Mail Store" option. Click OK and browse to the temporary folder where you previously copied the dbx files.

Any help?

that might help, you can also copy them into the correct folder which would be something like

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{7D5CFCFB-8AF2-44C2-829E-18C43FC65E7A}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

btw once you have copied all files to that location, simply go back and open outlook express all your folders should show in the folder view as before, with contents intact, if you copied an old inbox.dbx folder, which had mail in it, you can copy over the one located in that folder as it will be simply an empty folder

hope that helps
