Yes I know Ive been looking for ages but my PC hasnt had much use gaming wise so I never bothered upgrading. Now Ive got Max Payne 2 and Call of Duty I need something directx 9.0 compatible. Then Im sorted for Half Life 2 as well.
Looking to spend up to £150 but no idea what to get. Everyone says Radeon but there are so many damn makes and models.
Overclockers do a Saphire 9600 Pro for £117 inc vat now. Is this gonna be good enough with the rest of my kit (Athlon 1.7, 756mb PC2100 Crucial DDR)?
Then the Sapphire 9600XT 128mb is only £129 and that includes a voucher for a free copy of Half Life 2 when it is released.
But then the Sapphire 9600XT 256mb version is only another £19 at £147, and also comes with a voucher for free HL2.
Cheers,
Simon.

I wouldn't worry about a 256mb model. 128mb is plenty IMHO. Definately get a Radeon. Get a Radeon 9600 Pro or 9600XT.
There were a few people selling their 9700Pro's on here last week. That would be a mutt's nuts card for you![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Yeah am thinking the 9600XT 128mb version at the mo. Worth it over the Pro as comes with Half Life 2 voucher which is gotta be worth £20 and the card only costs £12 more.

Overclockers have done a mid-range review of ATi and Nvidia cards Simon.
If you fancy a bit of a gamble, they have the Hercules 9800Se AIW for £137+VAT. Some of these cards can be turned into a full 9800 Pro via modified drivers (a £300 card) - the article explains all.
