Quick PC question

Been roped into fixing a PC for my girlfriends antie.

Problem was it was sparking when switched on.

Took it to work plugged it big flash.

Replaced power supply (but didnt test it before I took it out)

But now PC does nothing. Is the board fried ???

I'd be surprised if it had damaged the PC as well, mass sparks and banging normally indicate a short in the PSU and any damaged is normally lacalised to this. It is very likely though that it would have taken the fuse in the mains plug with it, you have checked this haven't you?

Of course I checked the plug

Checks plug......

DEAD

tries new plug same fault

Sounds like something is shorting inside the case . . . seen the hamster for a while ?
