Cool

As above. Looking to get one or the other purely to play a few driving games and have no idea which would be better suited. I assume they've moved on a bit since the days of Atari !
Any opinions welcome as I'm stuck in the office today with **** all going on.

I've never touched an X-Box, but at the same time, an X-Box will never touch Gran Turismo

If somebody paid me a million pounds to explain how either of these games work, i wouldn't know where to start. Never even touched one, let alone played one. Am i unique in this respect on Scoobynet?!

What sort of driving games and how do you wanna play?

Need For Speed is basically 2Fast2Furious converrted to play on PS2/Xbox or Gamecube. Not realistic at all but very fast and good fun. You get to tart up your own choice of cars with real product kits, suspension, NOS, Bodykit etc. Race in 3 styles, normal circuit race, Drags and Drift races. Best 'arcade' racer at the moment IMO. Plays best on PS2 although not played the Gamecube version much at all. Xbox is still good but drop some frames on the Ps2 version. Also EA have no deal with Xbox Live so the Xbox version is not online multiplayer capable, PS2 is and you can play PC gamers online.

Project Gotham Racing - Xbox only. Loads more realistic than NFSU, choose real standard form cars (including the WRX Sti, which I kickass in!!) All Xbox online capable and again this is awesome, just set up a game on your best track with say Ferrari 360 Modena's as the restricted car choice and wait five minutes, you should get anywhere between 2 or 7 more challengers to race live for 'kudos' points which again relate to your true live online position in the World chart. I checked mine last night and I've played about 100 games and have Kudos of 5 - some chump on there has raced over 10K times and has kudos points of 55!!

Gamecube is not for the serious gamer, best pick up and play games for all ages and a top class console. No DVD and not online. Replacement due to be annouced next year.

PS2 - Old Skool now and talk of PS3 is already about. Still a good console which has kids games and serious or 18+ games too.

Xbox - Probably the best value for money right now, £130 should get you one with 4 decent games and an online trial for 2 months. Best option for going online at the moment other than a PC.

I have both and would say PS2 because you want to play driving games.

I got my PS2 to play GT3 because its such a good game. I cant wait for number 4 in April

The PS2 pad is better than the XBox IMHO

PS2 controllers are nicer than the original BIG Xbox pads but the S version is now standard and pretty good. There is also a wireless version of the Xbox pad (Like the Nintendo Wavebird) which is very cool.

Right now your money is best spent on an Xbox.

Get both I say

They both have some real cracking games, however I think the X-Box has the upper hand in terms of how detailed the games are compared to the PS2, which is getting a little long in the tooth.

PS3 sounds interesting though

Sony released something about the PS4 I think (im sure I read it somewhere) where they plan it to be 1000 times as powerfull as a PS2

Wasn't that what all this "welcome to the 3rd place" thing was all about

You can't be serious?!!? Cube has better GFX than PS2 or Xbox Simply not possible. Steering wheels suck but I admit some people find them fun to use. PGR2 has the Scoob Sti and NFS also has the Scoob. Both also have Skylines/Darkside Evo's etc etc.

Nah 3rd place was all about PS2 - but I've heard a few things about PS3 that sound good but to be honest PC gaming is where it's at when HL2 is finally launched. Sept is the latest date so I hear!

Hello

The X-Box is more flexible in that it can be converted to play DivX movies and it also has a built in network connection to enable online play. The games are good as well. No Gran Turismo (as mentioned above) but Project Gotham Racing 2 is still really good.

As for:

don't give gates anymore of your money!.
I believe that Microsoft are still losing some money on each sale of the X-Box (as with most console hardware), so you are actually taking money from Mr. Gates. I don't understand what peoples problem is with Microsoft anyway...

I'd say Xbox and I own both. PGR2 wastes GT3, dunno how GT4 will fare but lets face it, the PS2 is a bit down on power these days to produce much better GFX than GT3 had.

PGR2 runs at at 60 FPS and I fail to see how it could be made to look or play much better.

There is a list of over 30 people on here playing PGR2 live, nuff said.

Hello

It's a bit difficult to compare PS3 and X-Box2 as neither company has released spec's for them.

I'm sure that X-box 2 will have tighter security in terms of what you can do with it. Microsoft are not overjoyed that people are modding it so much.

Just wait till Codename:Juice comes out the Xbox. It's shaping up to **** all over GT4 (if you can live with only have 35 of the worlds best cars rather than being able to mod a Daewoo Matiz in GT4 )

Oh and yes I have got an Xbox, I've had it since the day of it's release and I've never regretted buying it instead of the PS2.

Please keep on topic - ScoobyNet doesn't condone pirating of games.

Thanks,

I have the full 'proposed' specs for the PS3 and trust me its looking good!

All I can say (been released anyways) is that it will 100% ship with wireless dual shock analogue pads.
