Just got a lite on dvd rw for christmas but i am really disapointed with the sonic mydvd and recordnow dx software that came with it. I have tried to copy a number of dvd's just to try it out but quite frankly, either I am useless or it is sh1te! I continually get can't copy messages along the lines of 'you need a packet writer'.
Can anyone recommend an alternative software package or advise me what i am doing wrong!

cheers
ken

Unlike backing-up a CD, DVD's have a 3stage process to creating a back-up.

1) Decrypt the image to your hard drive
2) Compress the files to approx 4.2GB to fit onto a DVD-r
3) Burn the compressed files

For a comprehensive guide, try searching this forum as this has been covered several times recently, alternatively, visit:

Many thanks Paul, I have learned a lot today! Even with my new found knowledge I can't believe how sh1te this sonic software is. Looks like it is Nero version 6 for me.

Thanks

It does, i use nero 6 all the time to burn dvd's.......nrg,.img,.iso, VIDEO_TS all work fine once you know what to do.

Another place to read about it is www.dvdrhelp.com
