to add your url to google go to www.google.com/addurl

I never bother to add my sites to any other search engine other then google because most people use google and it is most peoples first primary search engine.

One thing about google that many people don't know is that there only are 6 major search engines on this planet. And google's database is used by yahoo when producing search results listings. Yahoo still is used by over 60% of web users.

This in turn means, other search engines will use anything listed on the major search angines in order to keep up the quality of their searches.

What do I know about this? Wrote an Internet Marketing book on it :P

not always working like that mate, also best way to get indexed is to let google spider find you, with a link from another site. However most recent update showed over optimized sites with more incoming keyword text links were penalised more often than not, certainly all my top sites were.

have had #1 positions on google for a good few years for massive keyword searches, and work as an SEO for a large company in asia. Can you tell you one thing for certain, you have a few choices, use paid inclusion, or ppc, or pay an seo to work on your site if you expect to earn money, or make it your full time job. The amount of stuff to take in is HUGE, good luck

Don't think so. I am #1 on the google list for "sidtech" and no1 has linked to me cos there's nothing on the site!

I have approximately 3 visitors per month downloading my (old!) irc script and thats it.

Results 1 - 10 of about 492. Search took 0.24 seconds

thats because you have an uncommon domain name that no one else is searching for

I am talking about phrases with 2,000,000 + searches when i rank in top 5 or so, about linking some people might get lucky but not in a competetive market. However one thing you can be sure of, every rule will have an exception, there are some good forums for seo let me know if you wanna read one
