i need to make my pc dvd player multi region
I watch region 1 and region 2 discs on my newly installed dvd player on the pc.
when i put a region 1 disc in earlier, it said i had 3 more attempts at playing this region, and then it would default to this region only.
can i make it so it plays both ? ?

Hello
It depends whether the region coding is locked to the drive or the software.
Try and search for DVDGenie, which is a great little utility for unlocking most DVD Software.
Steve.

Use DVD Region-Free (http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm) and override software and hardware region locking. No need for firmware flashing or software hacks/patches.

DVD Genie works fine if you have region-free hardware. I used it successfully for many years. DVD Region-Free is different because it emulates a region-free hardware device. So the software player and operating system 'see' a region-free device, even if your hardware device is actually still region locked due to its firmware.
I firmware patched my PCs DVD drive a couple of years ago (Pioneer DVD 105S), and it was working fine as a multiregion player. Then one day it decided to revert to being region-locked. Perhaps the hacked firmware was unstable in some way? The solution was DVD Region-Free.
It costs about £25 IIRC, although there are apparently patches around to 'hack' old or demo versions. It's worth the asking price, IMO.
Damn... I sound like a salesman! Where's my commission cheque?
