Question Annoying Clicking Noise

Just bought a Creative Soundblaster 4.1 sound card with the hope that it would rid my machine of a very annoying subtle clicking noise.

Got it all installed, and the clicking is still there. It is very regular and very frequent and permanently there.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the cause might be?

Any help greatly appreciated, I am going clicking mad!

Cheers

I would close boot up in safe mode, close all programs see if it happens... then start unplugging devices to rule out interferance.. Printers>cameras>scanners>keyboard>mouse.speakers etc etc, it dos'nt sound like a soundcard issue..

try moving the computer away from other possible interference, next door neighbours mobile phone or vibrator etc LOL!

Can you take a guess at the frequency of the clicking? Any chance it's 50Hz, i.e. noise from mains electricity?

Hmm... the power switch. A controversial choice, but it might just work!

I had this problem with an Audigy card a while ago. In several games I got this clicking / ticking sound in the background, especially once the game had been running for a while.

I downloaded the latest drivers from creative labs, and the problem went away, (it was a known problem apparently). I suggest downloading the latest drivers...
