Default Maximium PC Uptime

Whats the longest you PC has been up, so far the longest I have been able to keep on before needing reboot was 16 hours - win xp

I may be wrong but why cant it seem to handle that long without reducing performance? Or grinding to a halt?

Mine runs for a couple of weeks easily without needing a reboot - XP Pro.

It runs United Devices in the background, so keeps itself occupied and I'm now 7th in the Impreza league table (respect to Mr Footlong)!

My home machine was up for 45 days continuously until it was rebooted last week. Not bad for an Athlon + WinXP combination

Something in your PC is knackered then.

Either the hardware or some software you're running is defective (memory leak perhaps)? The WinXP PC I'm using now has been running continuously since I rebooted it after installing the MS security fix last Monday.

If you're looking for real longevity, the NT4 and Win2003 servers we use in the office routinely run without rebooting for six months at a stretch. The only times they're stopped is if patches/updates ask for a reboot, or for their half-yearly service.

This sort of performance is nothing exceptional, and if you can only run your own for a few hours before things go pear-shaped, there's something wrong with it.

Have you heard of the Netware server that was lost behind a wall?

Can't remember the last time I reset my work PC, I only ever end up resetting it every few weeks (basically whenever I install something that requires a 'reboot' which is relatively rare these days) or when I clog the PC up somehow, again this hardly ever happens.

Works fine all the time too, rare that it slows down. Running XP professional on a AMD athlon 2400+ (2Ghz) and 480MB RAM.
