Photoshop is a bitmap editor. Corel is for vector graphics (unless it's sprouted some new features since I last used it a few years ago). Chalk & cheese IMHO.

without being a pedant, Photshop also does basic vector these days.. (paths )

if you want to do spot on vector stuff I would recommend

Adobe Illustrator-pricey

PSP7 -cheap
(must be 7 as this version and above have very good vector ability)

Coreldraw 12 is a graphics suite like abobe CS

it consists of coreldraw (vector), photopaint (raster), coreltrace (bitmap to vector) and capture programs, OCR etc and RAVE (flash 6 equivalent) and is second only to photoshop for features - but the package is half the price of Adobe CS.

There can be only one and it's Photoshop!!

The curves tool is awesome, but the single best feature is the healing brush!!

3 Questions

1)is it worth upgrading from PS 7 to 8-CS?most notable changes?

2)Paint Shop Pro can't really be compared with the other two, right?

3)ANy alternatives apart from those three?(Photoshop-Corel Draw-PaintShopPro)

Cheers, Mac
