Win 2003 Server install...how would you do it.
Ok,
heres a quick one.
A new server just built - spec as follows:
Athlon barton 2500+
512MB (2x Cosair matched 256meg sticks)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo
Cheap as chips Fx5200 Card
TEAC DVD reader
1x 120GB ATA133 DISK
2x 160GB SATA150 Maxtor disks sat on Silicon Image Raid controller.
Box is gonna be for all sorts of tasks really including IIS (http, ftp),
Apache Tomcat/JBoss (sometimes), Databases, Source repository, Media server and storage etc.
Its gonna be windows not linux and its 2003 server.
So, The pair of 160s is for a raid mirrored volume. Would you:
* do an OS and Apps install on the 120gb ATA drive keeping the raid volume for data ?
or
ditch the ATA drive and have an OS partition on the array and leave the 120 out ?

Hehehe,
I knew thats what you'd say
So - I'll whack the OS on the 120gig drive and use the 160 mirror for data. If I can find another 120gig disk in the office I may make it a dynamic volume so I can raid that too LOL.
'280gig is enough space for anyone'
you can quote me on that in years to come.... anyone remember IBMs claim about 640k of RAM being enough....ummmm
