Smile Toshiba Laptop Hardrive

Where can I get a replacement hard drive for a Toshiba Tecra 8000 from ?

Found a 40gb at http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/ but for £235+vat !! I thought PC bits were cheaper than old chips these days.

Is this competitive ?

Remember that 2.5" laptop HDs come in a variety of height sizes.

You'll need to measure your existing one (or find a spec for it from the part number) to avoid buying something that doesn't fit.

Do you know what depth the drive is? as tehre are a few differnt depths.

Generally yes, although you might run into a problem "seeing" all off the drive if it's a big one (oo-er misses).

How old is the Tecra?

It's currently 4 or 6gb, it's my old work one that was new in 1999.

D

40GB should not be a problem. Replaced quite a few H/D's in Tecra 8000's / 8100's.

As above, get the right physical dimensions and you'll be ok.
