I would not hold your breath for November. The rumours in Japan are that it may not even make a Christmas release. Japan and the USA were supposed to get it in November 2004 now the developers have changed the schedule to read "Winter 2004". Euprope is to follow soon after. Sony are extremely concerned about the impact on sales for Christmas as they plan to release GT4 bunbled with a PS2 console.
On another note, the new PSP is going to have a full port of GT4 when it comes out with full wireless network playability. The PSP is now fully working and we could see it by March 2005 on our shores.

Easy to see why no one has a clear date, one site says 5th November, another says 3rd December and the developers now say Winter 2004. It'll be here one day just hope it is worth the wait.

Get yourself down to a BMW dealer as they have a 1 Series GT4 Demo (I blagged a copy "for the kids"). It's moved on from the Prolog demo and has 2 new tracks - Costa D'Amalfi and the Nurburgring (plus New York).

There's a video doing the rounds showing the real 'Ring' and the GT4 'Ring' side by side, stunning! Even the trees are in the same place. Prologue is pretty good, but after playing the Xbox for such a long time going back to jaggedys [sp] all along the sides of the track was a bit off putting. Online play should be good, if the servers can handle it, with the numbers involved running them is not going to be cheap and with no subscription mentioned as yet how good can the service be.

official date (from Tokyo game show) is December 3rd in Japan. Possible Europe/US date is 14th December.
And it doesn't have online play anymore. They dropped it to get it out before Christmas. They say they'll release the online part next year, maybe as a budget release.
It still has link up play.

No online play, no purchase then for me
The GT team had something special - GT1 was just unreal, but now they are just churning out the same old stuff. They should re-think the game. No-ones arsed about having 1000 types of car with about 200 duff old Jap hatchbacks, and no crash damage.
I would think, like me, everybody tries as quickly as possible to get a powerful car
Damage dynamics would add a realistic element to the game, and they should release it on Xbox - I hate to say it, but since buying the Xbox the PS2 has had very little playing time.
The GT team are now devloping for sales rather than passion.

Dream Weaver,
You want Forza Motorsport then mate.
Which is basically GT4/PGR2 with proper crash damage and all cars are fully modifiable/customisable. Oh and AI that doesn't try to shove you off on each corner in 1 player mode (PGR2).

LOL you have to admire Sony. They've released 3 different versions of the same PS2 and kids lapped them up..ohh a different colour!! or the newer smaller one cause it's smaller and has network support straight out the box but you won't be able to play GT4 online now but you will have to buy an update of it later on...and people will.

My opinion....
I never thought i'd say anything bad about Gran Turismo but.......
I think that the Gran Turismo series has fallen behind in most aspects apart from visual quality, because it isn't "The Real Driving simulator" it says it is it is an arcade racer.
Especially when comparing it to games like f1 C 99-02 and it's many mods and live for speed, although there aren't as many vehicles to drive they are more quality over quantity.
These are also games that I actually enjoy driving the cars rather than the game feeling like it's a punishment just to complete it because the physics and handling are that bad and there's no enjoyment in it.
Although I bought the first three games on the day of release and got extremely excited (I was a teenager afterall), I won't be getting GT4 without trying it first.
It's good points would be multiplayer and online but with that gone it's not looking very tempting......
..........but as DreamWeaver says it used to be something special..........

So let me get this right -
1. They release GT4 prologue as an 'appetiser'
2. They release GT4 removing the online play that everyone wanted, but this was the only true 'killer addition' other than a few new tracks and cars.
3. They release GT4 'online patched version' afterwards.
And all the time it looks much the same to me as GT3???
Bunch of con-artists, if you ask me!
Get yourself Burnout 3 instead, and have a laugh playing a completed great fun arcade game NOW that doesn't expect you to buy in installments, rather than a jumped up arcade game pretending through all the hype to be something special... For the price of those three different titles you could have yourself an XBox and use your PS2 for GT3!!!
Grrrr

I read that the car manufacturers wouldnt allow them to add crash damage, not sure how true it is.
I have both PS2 and Xbox and im still trying to decide which i prefer! Havnt played either for a while though!
