Default Trying to help a friend fix there internet over then phone.
Basically my friend cannot get onto the internet and all it says is "The communication port is invalid or busy"

Any ideas because I haven't got a clue on this one.

Telephone line or modem is in use or has hung.

Try rebooting the PC (power off completely)

Are they using dialup ! And talking to you on the phoneline at the same time

Got him to do all of above except reinstall modem yet (explaining this should be fun). Yes he is using dial up.

Hmm well after a very long phone call, it seems he had somehow managed to uninstall the modem, all working again now.

Just can't understand why when he phoned technical help they didn't come up with that...
