MP3 Streaming Server
I've ripped all my CD's onto a large MP3 catalogue on my PC @ work. At the moment other collegues can listen to my music by just browsing onto my PC. This is fine, but windows XP can "hang" briefly whilst navigating folders.
Has anyone installed or configured a server that can stream MP3's to users on either a LAN or even over the Net?? You guessed it, it's really quite @ work so I'm looking at have a play and learning something along the way.
I've seen Apple do an Open Source server, but that uses a web front-end to navigate tracks. Is there one that can be used easily with Media Player, Real Player or Winamp??

I think you can network a Rio Karma MP3 player, does that help? http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/sho...del=220&cat=56

Yeah, but don't want to buy something specific.
Just want to install something on some spare hardware. Don't care if it's Windows or Linux-based, but it's got to run on an Intel platform.

Jack, limited to 5 users with iTunes. Does work well though.
SlimDevices one is easy to install, but management is a bit over-complicated. Basically you have to build playlists via the web-interface to the server and then configure it to start the stream.
Then you open whatever client you want to use and connect to the stream via a URL.
Again, works well but the client interface is to complicated.
All I want is to be able to connect to the server via a client and browse tracks, create playlists, etc..
Will try the GiantDisc server and see what the client interface is like.
