Default USB 1.1 or 2.0?
Hi

I am buying my wife an MP3 player, how can I tell if her computer has USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 sockets?

In device manager, expand the usb section and hopefully it will say USB 2.0 enhance controller. I guess some machines/drivers may not give you this info..
what would scooby do is offline

BIOS would be a safer bet, or check the manufacturers website against the motherboard number/model.


Also windows XP does not natively support USB2 and would require a patch upgrade (surprise surprise).

USB2.0 is backward compatible anyway, so it shouldn't matter what type of USB mp3 player you get

Ok thanks guys

I know my m/b is USB 2.0 but nowhere is this indicated in the BIOS or WinXP. Wifey's pc - I haven't a clue which version it is.
