Question What the hell is a Windows xp hotfix?

Cos there's loads on my pc. Can I delete 'em?

Well you could do if you really want to, but why? These are patches which Microsoft issues (e.g. via WindowsUpdate) to resolve flaws in Windows. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=824684 for the definition of a "HotFix", and other such terminology.

Hotfix: "Definition: A hotfix is a single, cumulative package that includes one or more files that are used to address a problem in a product. Hotfixes address a specific customer situation and may not be distributed outside the customer organization."

Me too but if you go in add and remove, they are taking up no space on the computer are they?
My guy has xp but he doe,nt have them so how come we have them

No, don't mess!

As Fatman says they are critical patches against security holes in Windows remove them and you're just making a rod for your own back.

Remove them and (assuming you have not disabled it) Windows Update will offer to put them back for you. My money's on you giving up before WU does.
