I just installed over the top of 2002 & it worked fine. Beforehand, do an export to PST just in case.

my mailbox name was changed so had to reconfigure by removing old & adding new. Emails stored on server is ok now. but the off-line file(ost) i cant work out how to open. opening a data file only seems to be .pst. surely i dont have to convert ost to pst???

I dunno, I'd always use a PST. You could try getting the file into OE & then importing that into Outlook.
