Default norton professional problem

Hi all,

As of last week I have been unable to update my virus definitions using the live update feature for norton. I keep getting this message ...........

Error: "LU1806 (or LU1816 or LU1817): LiveUpdate was not able to install any of the <number> updates that you selected . . . "

It detects the needed files etc and downloads them but fails to install them. I have downloaded the norton "intelligent update" program and ran that. It ran fine but still will not live update???

Anyone have any suggestions or should I just delete the program and reinstall?

Subscription is upto date
Cheers

If it's a Cracked copy you'll never get rid of the problem.
I've been there and had to get a new copy of it with a 25 year crack.

I had a similar problem back in Jan/Feb of this year.

Norton downloads loads of stuff, but it failed to install. I downloaded the latest copy of LiveUpdate, tried all sorts of tricks that the UselessBase suggested - but was still unable to update for weeks.

In the end (and coincidentally) i bought McAffee and was about to chuck Norton out - when all of a sudden it started to work again. Nothing had changed my end, so obviously they had tweaked the liveupdate in some way.

Nevertheless, i am sick to death of Norton, and in a couple of months when the latest subscription expires (or before if it gives any more grief) - it will be banished forever. McAffee is still waiting in the wings - and may be installed sooner rather than later. Recently i can't do defrags or disk checks because something is messing around with files . The only thing that it could be is that bloody Norton - which remains active even if you disable it (both NAV and NPF)
