Default New DVD rom for my laptop

Where would be the best place for a replacement DVD rom for my Tosh 2800 satellite ?
The existing one has given up the ghost and I am trying to suss out which would be a more cost effective replacement: internal or external.

Cheers

Paul

if the the tosh internal is too expensive, you might want to opt for an external. all you need is to get a usb 2.0 (or firewire) 5.25inch enclosure (about £16) and get a DVD RW/ DVD-RAM drive to put it in!

the downside of the external enclosure is you need main power.

Try www.span.com; a dual format writer will only cost about £105 exc vat; thats a Tosh drive too... (http://www.span.com/catalog/product_...oducts_id=3740) DVD-Rom drives start at about £50 exc.

Thank you Simon.
Food for thought there.
