how can i find out what type of memory my pc takes without having to open it up?

and select your computer from the dropdown list.

Also use CPUZ, it should list your motherboad model and then display the type/speed of memory you have.

Just extract the 3 files somewhere and then run the cpuz.exe file, sorted,
