![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Since my Geforce FX5900 has given up the ghost after less than a year. I am in the fortunate position of getting a refund, which basically amounts to a free upgrade.
So what should I get I've narrowed it down to two options a Geforce 6800GT or a Radeon X800 pro.
Anyone have any opinions of these ? At the moment I am favouring the Geforce because pound for pound the performance seems to be better.

I've got a 256Mb 6800 ultra on order and hopefully will be with me next week sometime (they're a bit hard to get hold of at the moment). Hopefully it'll be a bit quicker than my current 4600Ti
Benchmarks I've seen so far seem to put it slightly ahead of the ati

I've had a X800 XT PE and now have a 6800 Ultra. The Ultra is a nice card and runs doom 3 and just about evrything else I chuck at it at stupid FPS with everything max'd out. The CSS:beta runs at 116 FPS with 16xAF and 6xAA turned on and all shadows, reflections etc.

I bought the card from Dabs and they have decided to refund me the full amount I paid. I bought the card at the end of August last year so it is JUST in warranty.
I thought about a 6800 ultra but they seem to be about £100 more than a GT, the card I have in mind is the BFGtech 6800GT which is £258 from PCWorld. It is a 6800GT overclocked to 370mhz. They are also a single slot design and only require one power connector.

When you first power on it is very noisey as the fan spins to full speed. When you hit the OS it spins down and is pretty quiet. Not much louder than the stock 9800 pro fan. It doesn't really spin up at all after that even running at 425/1200 and above.
