Looking at my sisters PC right now - If you launch IE6, no window appears but the iexpore.exe task is started......
I have never seen this one before, anybody able to shed any light on this?

task or process?
If the task is running, have you tried right clicking and trying 'switch to'?
Sounds obvious, but when one of my systes was going wrong, it would start up, and the screen would be blank (as desktop is explorer). I started new tast in tast manager (explorer.exe), then when it started to run I clicked switch too and the desktop would appear. Quirky as you like - the wonderful world of windows!

Sorry - running as a process so you can't switch to, only end the process.
After a few beers and a brainwave I ran "Hijack this" and found a load of kakware on the system along with good old favourite bigwebportal.
Cleaning it up and presto - IE now runs as normal.
I'll put this down as another chapter in my constant battle against the CWS family!
If I ever meet the people that wrote it, I will damage them!
