Default Wireless Router issues

Have a USR 808054 Wireless router. Been working fine for several months, great range and link quality. On Friday it started randomly rebooting which is dropping the WIFI connection on my two pcs for 5-10 seconds. This is happening every hour or so.

Not a problem when using *cough* bittorrent however when gaming it is just long enough to get kicked off the server.

No changes had been made to the setup and I have tried changing channels in case of interference and running with ssid broadcast on. I have also moved both pcs to use the proprietary config software rather than XP wireless as a final resort.

So unless anyone has any bright ideas I'm having to assume my router requires replacement/kicking out of the window.

Any recommendations, need something (pref a g router) with good distance, and reliable. Not too worried about ease of use.

3com are reliable, go for a router with a detachable aerial so you can stick an external one on. Boosts the signal loads

I'm using a USR9106 which is 802.11g and below, seems pretty good most of the time. It hiccuped a bit a while back but i think it was the PCI wireless card being next to a big fan in the PC.

You could try downloading the latest firmware binary from www.usr.com and upgrading your router, might improve things and doesn't cost anything to try.

Is it firmware upgradeable? If it is, might be worth reflashing it, even with the same firmware, to see if it cures the problem. If there's a later F/W version, it might even fix something.....worth a try before you punt it

Just seen Iwan's post I'll keep my gob shut
