Hi
Can anyone explain what 2x, 4x, 8x etc anti-aliasing is?
I know what anti alisaing is itself, just not sure what the 2x, 4x bit relates to?
My P4/3.4 runs a treat with 2x anti aliasing on, but bump it up to anymore than this and the framerate drops substantially
cheers
Neil

The higher the anti-aliasing figure ( 4x compared to 2x), the more samples that are taken & therefore the smoother are the edges of the images. This takes more processing power which slows down the frame rate. Sometimes you get a better frame rate & equally sharp images by dropping the anti-aliasing figure & increasing your screen resolution.
