Best ASDL broadband at the mo?

At long last BT have updated the local hand wound exchange & I can now get broadband!
What's the latest recommended package? I want to avoid capped download limits and pay as little as possible (!) The Wannado 1mb deal with free modem & connection @ £17.99 looks like a runner...
Also, what service / packages should I avoid?
Cheers

The wanadoo 1mb is limited to 2gb per month.
I was in exactly the same position and really didnt know who to go with. In the end I went with the wanadoo deal. I ordered online last wednesday and by friday it was all up and running. I was amazed how much quicker it is and I have downloaded loads of stuff over the weekend.
If you reach the limit then just upgrade to the next level 5gb @ £22.99 per month.

If you look here you can fill your boots and get completely confused. I think it's a bit like buying hi-fi.

Due to the extended trial success, I should be able to FINALLY get broadband on the 6th September. However, I was looking at a couple of suppliers, but they're all charging quite a bit for modems and\or activation.
I suspect e-buyer can flog me an ADSL modem and filter, but anyone know what to go for ?
Cheers

Yeah Cong thats ok if you live in certain parts of London but not much good to anyone else.
I have been looking around again as just moved house but I still can't find anyone to beat Pipex by more than a few quid and the fact I know Pipex's service (connection always up) was excellent means I will be going back and signing up to them for a second time once my phone is activated on Friday. I had been looking at Bulldog but I do not know anything about them or know anyone who uses them plus its only £3 a month cheaper so will stick with a known and reliable service from Pipex.

The new tesco package at 512k, unlimited downloads with free modem & connection looks like good value @ £19.97. Not so sure 512k over 1mb will be a major issue for me coming direct from dial up & I'd imagine Tescos will expand the service to 1mb later?

Just gone back to Pipex:
£23.44 p/month, unlimited dloads, free modem and splitters with no connection fee.
I was with them a while ago and they were suberb, had them back for a few months (after a couple of years with NTL after moving) and again superb - no outages for me as yet.

I've signed backup with Pipex now, couldn't find any better after two days of looking around. Tescos looked good but don't know how reliable their connection will be and as Pipex was always up for me it wasn't worth the risk of going with Tescos.
