G4 / G5 Mac owners help needed (pic request)
Peeps, I am after pics of the inside and case make up of The G4 or G5 towers.
I've had a strage requst off a friend and looking at the viablilty. The bigger and more detailed the better.
Cheers
Simon

Got it in 1 Flat. The person is currently building her house. 1 of the specs is the office, having seen the designs, no other case would look right, the closest I can find does not appeal to them.

If you are going to take the insides out of one , give me a shout and I will have what you are taking out.

It's been done a million times already, just Google for "PC in G4 case"
Here's the first link I found
http://www.systemlogic.net/articles/01/8/g4pc/
A PC to G5 case is tricky given the way the case is subdivided into different cooling zones. You've also got the problem of finding a bare G5 case, they're still pretty new machines.
Why not just go for a nice Coolermaster or Lian Li case? Failing that, just build a Shuttle and hide it away in a desk cupboard or something. Couple that with a nice LCD and wireless keyboard and mouse and you have quite an elegant/minimalist solution.

Nevermind if its been done. In the over all effect it will look right, and thats what they want. The reason for not going for a Coolermaster or other case like that, is I haven't yet seen 1, that looks like a Mac case. I have seen similar but not the same.
Its the overall look we are trying to achieve.

LOL angrynorth - pure sacrilidge.
Why anyone would want to destroy a twin proc G5 is beyond me. Why not by a G5 and an XBOX - then no excuses. Games, Photoshop, Internet and a nice looking piece of furniture.

I will stress this. I will not be destroying a working G5. Its a case if I can get a dead unit or case only. I do not want to destroy a mac, as its been said that would be sacrelige

Lightning, I remember seeing that link a while back, it still depresses me now. I remember the flaming the guy got for it was like nothing I'd ever seen before.
Simon in seriousness, many people have gone on Mac forums before and asked about obtaining G5 parts, and dead units etc. Unfortunately they are really really rare. Due to the fact that even if one did break down 100% of people will return it to Apple under the year warranty, Apple will then refurb that machine and sell it. So until that cycle runs out which will take a couple more years, you will be very hard pressed to find an empty G5 case.
That is unless you can find a cheap Rev A 1.6 model on eBay and then take the insides out. Other than that you will be stuck with a G4 case.
