Current PC motherboard fubard I think so need new base unit. What's the best spec for the cash? Any good offers anywhere at the mo? What minimum spec do I go for? may want to think about something good for games although not essential.

Saw an offer in PC World (spit! I know ) for the following at £340 (packard bell IIRC).
AMD Athlon 3000
512 RAM
80GB HDD
DVD Writer
graphics card (64 meg although it might have been a 128m, can't remember).

Should I be able to get more for my money elsewhere?

It's cheaper to buy it all seperately. I was pricing up a Pentium 4/3ghz, motherboard for about £200. Hard drive another £50. Okay graphics card for £70.

Need it to have XP, DVD writer and RAM too. Done a couple of 'pricing ups' but £400 seems the lowest for an equivalent system.
