McAfee and system freezes
I installed McAfee Personal Firewall Plus and Virusscan at the weekend, to replace Norton Internet Security that had become a total pain in the ****!
It is a nice, neat product (mini-review to come), but there is one thing that is really irritating me. Every so often, and it seems to be network activity related (e.g. starting Firefox, sending SMTP, incoming alert), my whole PC freezes for 30 seconds to a minute. Thats the mouse, keyboard and display - everything . After the freeze, things continue as normal until the next freezeee[aaargghh - it just froze then, hence the 3 "e"s!].
I tried the McAfee online chat support (neat feature), but guess what - it kept freezing and dropping the session!
I'll log it via e-mail soon, but anyone else get freeze problems with McAfee?
I'm running Windows 98 on a 450MHz PII with 384MB RAM, but i don't think that it is a horsepower issue, 'cos things run perfectly (and much faster than under Norton) in between freezes.
Ideas?
