Question Power Consumption

Hi Everybody!

If you have two PSUs say a 350W and a 500W and you use them to run the same PC (not both at the same time), does the 500W one actually use more electricity or does it just have the potential to do so.

In other words does a PSU draw the same wattage from the mains regardless of load?

No, it draws in response to load. That is, both PSUs will run at (say) 300W if that's what is needed to run the hardware.
