Broadband - BT Offer

Hi all,
About time the Nursing Home here got Broadband
Now, I've been offered (as a VERY special customer
) a Broadband deal from BTInternet and it goes like this:-
For an EXTRA £2 a month they will move me onto the broadband package (500k) until 1st May 2005 (thats £15:99 a month).
Then, I get a choice:- either stay with the 500k package and pay £27/month 15Gb limit
or
take the £15:99 package which is 150k - limited to 1Gb download limit
I know that BT is probably the most expensive, but, it 'seems' a good deal (no start-up costs involved) the only condition I see is that the contract runs for 12 months.
Should I go for it, or are you all about to tell me there is a 1Gb package out there that is much better all-round?
Your thoughts - oh, wise ones?
Pete

try here amigo:

its more than just about speed - consider bandwidth limit and contention ratio.
i am currently with bt (1.1mb line) and have been since april (was with ntl broadband before that). i have been happy with them so far, but i am locked in for 12 months. when it comes to renewal i will be changing tho simply because they've got bandwidth limits which i struggle to keep within (downloading linux distros).

I have only ever had one broadband ISP and so can't compare. What I can say is that I am with Zen and they have given me excellent service for quite a few years now, I was the first ADSL line on my local exchange almost the day it was enabled! They give static IP addresses etc. if that is important and everyone seems to praise their customer support. I've never had any problems with contention, always seeing the full 512mb/s minus a small amount for overheads, and no limits on my downloads. They also do a monthly contract and all at a reasonable price.
Like I say I can't compare but I've been with them almost since the start of broadband and they have always been great. I now have quite a few friends with them and have never heard complaints from any of them either.

Broadband services are charged at standard costs (300K = £17.99; 750K = £24.99; 1.5Mb = £37.99).
Not much difference really Pete.

Pete,
I went for it.
Tbh I think the 150 will do me come May.
The 512 is good, I will give them that but tbh I dont think I will stick with it @ £27 as I have no need for speed or download but the freeing up of the phone line and that wee bit extra for £2 pm seems good to me. At the end of the 12 months I will review the connections with other ISP's.
So far so good with it. everything happened on time and a couple of calls from BT to see if it was to my liking.
Paul.
ps, my connection used to be around 47kbps and I am now running 576kbps
