Norton Anti Virus Help....Cant Run .exe Files.......Jack C ?

Exclamation Norton Anti Virus Help....Cant Run .exe Files.......Jack C ?

Firend has just bought and installed this.....the 2004 suite i think he called it ?

phoned me to say whats it doing.....pc will now not run a single .exe file from a menu / icon....

but if he double clicks on a word doc for eg its runs up word !!!

also it will not let him uninstall the norton as it says summat about cant run .exe files ?

he's stuck.

i've not actually seen the pc doing this....just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.....

Jack C maybe ???????????? Anyone !

if it's like McAfee V8 you'll find it has a file type blocker that stops executables running... you need to find the security setting that blocks those files and get rid.

Wonderful default setting that....

try going into control panel . add /remove programs see if it will uninstall from there

Best get onto Symantec support. Sounds like they've changed a registry setting somewhere. Not easy to find manually, chances are you're not alone.
