Exchange 2003 problems.
Hi all.
Just installed a Win2k3 server ( enterpirse edition ) setup the AD , DNS etc etc, created users , and banged on Exhange 2003 , did the forest, domain prep and install 2k3 exchange. No problems reported in the error log.
Now when i try and connect a machine to the domain its fine , but when i use the outlook email account , the networked machine wont find the server , its always say " the server is not responding, or is offline" ( or words to that effect ) however , i can use OWA to send and recieve no problems
I have checked the DNS , and NSLookup etc seem to work fine
any pointers?

Assume you can ping server name from a workstation.
Are all the services started on the Exchange box?
Does DNS work OK from the Exchange box itself? All entries are stored in AD, so Exchange needs to be able to make DNS/LDAP queries to a DC
Everything to do with the Server and mailbox store look OK from the Management Console?
Check Queues are all in a Ready (or Active) state
All necessary protocols enabled - HTTP & SMTP are the defaults IIRC (all you should need)
Check your workstation can resolve Global Catalog servers too.

Oh and don't rely on a ping just to check DNS resolution. Exchange relies on AD and DNS integration so your DNS server should have entries for your Global Catalog and LDAP servers in several locations under your domain name lookup zone in DNS.
