just had our office computer back from repair. Said it had been infected by a virus but no one said they had opened attachments on e-mails. Can a computer be infected by a virus any other way?

yes
fresh install a computer. look at taskmanager and list all the processes that are running. plug it in with a modem. dont use a firewall. go online and browse for an hour or so. disconnect, then take a look in taskmanager and see how many extra processes are running (hint: there will be a LOT more).
you'll need to fresh install again at this point![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)

You can merely visit an internet site and get infected.
Get a decent firewall etc.
One of the largest ticket sellers in London were hit by a virus on their homepage and every person that visited was open to attack... dont take much...
