How do I go about Installing XP O/s on one drive and the page file system on another 18Gb drive.
What advantages does this give over having it all on one drive?

install XP onto drive chosen
then, when all installed, right click on my computer, go to properties/advanced, select settings under performance tab, then advanced. At bottom under virtual memory select change. Set your install drive(c) as no paging file, then set paging file to your other drive, specifying a custom size.
Recommended size is 1.5 times RAM for minimum, and 3 times RAM for max, although if you search you will probably find a whole host of reasons for it to be another size.
Never really found it made any difference anyway !

Yup, I'd only do that on a server.
On a workstation, I set the paging file to 1.5 times RAM size & make it a fixed size. Expanding page files create more fragmentation.

With the RAID Controller card attatched and plugged in the drive it looks as though my only option is to have ones attached to it as BOOT O/S, as I can't get it to boot into any other HDD. ![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
This of course rules out the use of the RAPTORS as C: as they are SATA.
So I think a bit of shifting of Info will be required from the two 20Gb's onto the 200Gb's to enable me to set them up as independants on the Controller card.
So
O/S on 20Gb attached to Primary master Controller card.
Page file on 18Gb (not all of it
) on Secondary Master Controller card.
Raptors in RAID 0 (striped 128k ?? ) on M/B SATA
DVD and 200GB on Primary M/B master and slave respectivly.
last 200GB on Secondary Master M/B..
