Buy a UK xbox an buy a SmartXX chip from www.Divineo.com They work on all rev boards.
You get High Def TV, all region and Jap/ US NTSC. It will use almost any Bios as a boot rom. Currently Using the Executor bios.

Yes, they are reliable and you can do pretty much anything you want.
Treat it as a media centre, backup your games to a larger HDD so you don't have to carry them around, surf the web etc. The list is endless.

You can get premodded consoles or individual mods from:
http://www.baldbouncer.co.uk/
http://www.divineo.co.uk/
Yes, there is lots you have missed
But thats the basics, have a browse on Xbox Scene and see what people are up to.
The Alladin will do as a basic chip, but I would go for something like the X3, SmartXX or Xenium.

watch out though, i've had my **** banned on xbox live!!!!!
(forgot to switch the chip off) "xecuter2"
i didnt realise and phoned them up. they asked if i had chipped the box i i obviously said no
then they said i could sent it in for a free repair... yeah right!!!
mind you 75 (backed up
) games later i'm not complaining.
rememeber to burn the later games on decent dvd's at 1x speed though.
as i had some glitchy video sequences on faster burn times.

i use evo x operating system, which has a kind of menu and ability to run games etc i also have a gensx emulator (sega) on the hard drive with about 200 odd sega games at the click of a button (no disk required).
i installed this lot ages ago, but there are plenty of websites explaining the processes involved - just follow the instructions.
enjoy BB![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
PS: the games play directly as the originals, with no pishing about, unlike some ps2 chips i could mention.
i speak only for xecuter2 though, i've not had any dealing with others!!

Sorry to hijack the thread and this sounds a really dumb question, but how do I burn games to my modded xbox? I bought it off ebay a year or so ago with about 40 games - and would like to delete some that I'll never play and burn some different ones to the hard drive...Software wise, when I boot the xbox I get a choice of Launch DVD, MS Dashboard, launch game or reboot...
When I put an audio cd in the drive I get the option to copy it to the hard drive - will this be the same for games? I've never played a CD Xbox game on it...
any ideas?

[QUOTE=Recaro]I'm thinking of doing this. What chip is the best at the mo??

I've done 3 Xboxes with mod chips. I've always used the Xecutor 2 from baldbouncer.co.uk.
The latest one has a special piece to easily mod the crystal (version1.6 & 1.6b) of XboX.
the mod chip costs 21 inc delivery.
All you have to do is read the tutorials on the links from baldbouncer which explain how to soldier it on. It's quite easy.
After you've done that the worst part, or most frustrating part is finding the correct bios for your xbox. Once you've done that all you have to do is burn the bios file and a dummy.bin (100Mb) file to a cdrw.
Pop it in and reboot the xbox. It should come up to the flash bios screen. Making sure you booted on bank 2 then flash the bios with your bios.bin file on the cdrw.
Once this has been completed you need to re-boot. It will now play copied , sorry...backup games![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
To put the new dashboard on you need to download slayers evoX ver 2.5 or 2.6.
Then burn the slayers iso file onto cdrw again.
reboot your xbox with the slayers auto install cdrw in and it will boot up with various choices. Pick the one you want and it does the rest.
Once it's all loaded the xbox will boot up into the slayers menu where you can choose to play games direct form dvd, hdd or for you to use the different apps to say burn a backup copy to your hdd!
If you want to put a new, bigger hdd in (the standard is approx. 8Mb) then insert the HDD and boot with the slayers cdrw again and select format and install new hdd (Think it's option 3a).
that's it really.
the hardest thing is finding the bios, via xbins.org and using mIRc plus Flash FTP. All the instructions are on teamxecuter.com and baldbouncer.co.uk...plus you can ask any Q's right here![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
