Default DNS has me confused

I am trying to manage a domain name and point it at a particular directory on a server. The address I need it to point to is:

http://saturn.nocdirect.com/~jsgcaorg/bjs/

or

http://69.73.175.185/~jsgcaorg/bjs/

When I try to change the DNS A record in my domain control panel, it will not allow me to point to this directory, I get the error:

"The value entered for a A record should be a valid public (IPv4) IP address."

Anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Ta

Hello

That's not the DNS entry. You need to change the redirect (that should be one of the entries on your control panel).

Steve.

A DNS record only points at the host machine e.g. 69.73.175.185

Your webserver software will then redirect to the correct directory. e.g. Under IIS you'd set your root directory as wwwroot/whatever/directory
