it's been a while since i posted any code i've written, but here's a bit I've been using a lot.
an example: http://www.qucami.net/Jordan2004/Marti
there are 2 asp pages that handle this whole sub site.
plonk them in a directory and they'll pick up all your thumbnails, images and.... the cool bit, comments for each image.
There's an additional asp page to only list images that have comments for the lazy![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Code: http://www.qucami.net/fosters_image_gallery_code.zip
here's how it should look on your server:
![](http://www.qucami.net/fosters_image_gallery_code.gif)
thumbnails and images should be the same file name.
the 'messages' will obviously be an empty directory to start with, but needs to be present.
in default.asp, you can specify:
<%
ThumbsPerLine=3
home="/."
font1="Tahoma"
if_font1_missing="Verdana"
top_left_title="Images by<br>Marti Delucia"
top_left_title_size=3
top_left_title_link=""
top_right_image="jordon_logo.gif"
top_right_link="../"
%>
enjoy!

Fosters,
Very nice, only point I would make is that there is no button to submit the comments, you have to hit enter which some users might struggle with. Also there is no navigation back to the thumbnails other than clicking the back button on the browser. Small points I know but great work anyway!
cheers

Gary, there are links back to the thumbs, but obviously not visible. I'm terrible for austere pages without frills.
SJ, cheers
I'll chuck in the declarations. [embarrassed developer for forgetting]
will anyone else find them useful do you think?

Cool
Would it be possible to automatically create the thumbnails ? So the user would just have to put the images into the relevant folder and the rest is done for them ?

There are a couple of ways I would look at doing this:
1. Upload 2 images, one as a thumbnail, one as the full size. (This is how my website works)
2. Use Persits ASPJpeg to upload your images, this can then auto-resize them for you creating thumbnails. (I have written a customers site that uses this method albeit crapola code!)
3. Use only JPEG images, I believe they store a thumbnail of themselves in their encoding. All you need to do is tap into this....
