Did they have any centrino M processors or was it Celeron only. The Centrino will make the battery last longer.

yeah but that aside

i'm sure they have many different specs but obviously not at that money

I was dissapointed with the battery tho, not sure if the battery is more important than spec, dvd rw etc and not sure where we would need many hours on battery

The spec seems fine to me, but then my machines could feature on Antiques Roadshow, I'd question the battery life, I doubt anyone would make a laptop that only lasts an hour off the mains. Are you using powersaving?

I would have said that the spec is quite good. The Intel M chips are only listed as 1.4-1.7 but from what I remember, they compete with the higher Pentium 4 standards in terms of performance. Sort of like AMD's.

Dell have laptops under £500 but they don't have the spec list above.

If you club together dell have a deal at the mo for buy 2 laptops get a third free. Also if you have a dell account manager they are *really* desperate for sales and will give you very keen pricing as they want to make their bonuses this quater.

Celeron M is a cut down Pentium M. It's pitched at the laptop market but doesn't have Hyper Threading or Enhanced SpeedStep and L2 cache is down to 512k. It (the Celeron) also lacks the deeper sleep mode and is not as power effecient as the Pentium M.

That said, you get what you pay for. An hour isn't great but what can you expect for under £500?
