Excellent quality TV output from a PC
Anyone running video-on-demand at home? I'm interested in hearing what people are using to display decent quality (not S-Video or composite) video on their standard definition TV.

My current, and only solution is to use XFree86 under some UNIX and manually set the modelines to display native PAL out of the video card straight through to SCART, with some small bit of electronics to create the composite sync signal SCART expects. I'd be interested to hear how Windows users do it too.

Have you taken a look at PowerStrip for Windows?
Also check the various HTPC (home theatre PC) forums at http://www.avforums.co.uk and http://www.avforum.com
Plenty of "media centre" type apps. for Linux including MythTV and Freevo

Yeah seen all those, cheers. I will be writing all my own software though, otherwise where's the fun
PowerStrip looks useful, I will have to get various machines onto the TV and see how they look before I start investing properly.
