Default Exceem?

It's been released to the public as a beta

But I'll be damned if I can get it to work - can't even install it...corrupt file

Anyone managed to get it working, and is it as good as it says on the tin?

Installed it, searched for a few things and go very few hits. Even "lesbian" came back with nothing. Only 30,000 users and not one of them into pr0n

I was thinking just that...the website seems far too slick for that of a non-profit (well, ads permitting) organisation. And it's worded in typical US sales-type blurb. I'm suspicious to say the least.

Not got it working yet...will try d/l again, as the current setup file I have is foobarred.

Thumbs down Too good to be True

Well...it's Adware at least

Owned by Cydoor...yep that's the adware that usually gets flagged up on a unprotected PC by Spybot S&D and Adaware

off the website:

Third Party Advertising
The ads appearing on the Exeem.com Web site and within eXeem™ application are delivered by our web advertising partner, Cydoor. Information about users of eXeem™ and Exeem.com, such as the number of times they have viewed an ad (but not user name, address, or other personal information), is used to serve ads to users. If you would like more information about Cydoor, please visit: http://www.cydoor.com/Cydoor/Company/CompanyPrivacy.htm

Ads that might appear outside Exeem.com and eXeem™ application are Opt-out ads, that you have a chance to uninstall. Outside Exeem.com and eXeem™ application is eXeem's Toolbar LookSmart .
From the license Agreements:

6.1 During the process of installing the Software you must install software from third party software vendors pursuant to license or other arrangements between such vendors and yourself ("Third Party Software"), including without limitation those software components noted in Section 6.4 below. Please note that the Third Party Software may be subject to different licenses or other arrangements, which you should read carefully. By installing and using the Third Party Software you accept these Third Party Software licenses or other arrangements and acknowledge that you have read them and understand them.

6.4 Embedded Third Party Software. You will have an option to install (and to uninstall at a later date) certain embedded Third-Party Software.

6.5 In exchange for downloading the Software at no cost, you expressly agree that you accept the Embedded Third Party Software and that so long as you have not entirely deleted the Software from your computer you will not take any action, including downloading other software which modifies, is intended to modify or permits others to modify registry or other settings on your computer to, disable, remove, block, prevent the functioning of, or otherwise interfere with any of the Embedded Third Party Software.
I would presume it also logs usage tracks aswell, and it looks like it integrates with explorer (toolbar add-on).

I wonder if some bright spark will release a castrated version (aka "old" Kazaa-lite)

Hello

Having downloaded and run Exeem, it just sits there and doesn't appear to connect to anything.

Any suggestions?

Steve.

Hello

Ignore that, it was obviously sorting out its life somehow as the search list just appeared.

Hello

Give it time to "warm up" and then I managed to find everything I wanted. It's actually really good.

Hello

I'm running the normal version, but ran Microsoft's AntiSpyware to remove the adware.

Exeem lite works fine - i've had 3.4 gb of downloads so far.

You need to open firewall port 4000 to allow the connection node or you wont get any searches.

It works very fast, and a handy thing is to use the NEW tab to see whats on, as its quite limited at the moment - 16-25000 files - about 6.4 terrabytes.

Aparently they have removed the spyware from the official version. That was the last thing I heard.

I have the latest 0.21 and it was working fine for a while.

Seems to have chucked it though as it can't find anything.

Any tips?

Hello

It does take a long while to "warm up" and then it comes back with things.

Steve.
