Question Anyone used DIY Toner refills?

As above please. Just found out that replacement toner cartridges for my newish Samsung colour printer (CPL-500) are about £80 each - there are 4 of them!! So option is to try DIY refills - you're supposed to get instructions with "trade tricks" as to how to refill cartridges. Much cheaper but are they any good or am I wasting my money? If they are OK anyone got supplier source? Thanks, DL

I wouldn't touch refills. Tried loads where I used to work. Verrrry unreliable IMO.

no but i've used one of those cartridge world franchises that obviously do the same thing, 2/3 the cost of an HP cart but lasted half the time, utter $hite HP carts only from now on.

They are the spawn of the devil. Black is passable but you end up with more ink on you and surrounding desk space than in the cartridge. Colour? forget it... absolutely minging results.

Sadly, but true, you have to buy decent cartridges if you depend on decent output.

Thumbs up

I've got an HP printer have used a couple of types of 'refilled' cartridges. Samsung from ebuyer.co.uk Black worked fine, colour didn't work.

Got some 'Alpha' locally. Both black and colour work perfectly. The chap tells me that they put twice as much ink in as std HP colour cartridge.

He also gives £2 for each cartridge you return to him!!!

My local Tesco also does re-manufactured cartidges...

I have also heard that HP who include a postbag for you to re-cycle your used cartridges... - and then use them as landfill!!!!!!!
They also try to keep the longevity of the cartridges to a minimum to try to prevent people being able to re-use! Most reputable re-manufacturers test the cartridges before refilling! - The good ones have a slightly lower failure rate than OEM! - Allegedly

My 2 pennorth!

This is the way they make their money... a cheap printer - makes you think you are getting a bargain then wham... £60 to re-ink the f ucker. My new Epson takes 7 cartridges.... yet when it needs re-inking they all need replacing. Psychologically people think yeah, one cartridge at a time... hahahahaaaaa... wrong.

Thanks for comments guys and gals. I don't think I'll buy a kit over the net but rather try out one of the places that does it for you so at least I've got someone to shout at if it goes **** up. David
