satelite question
#4
Buy What Satellite mag and they list all the channels available and tell you if 'clear' or coded etc. You'll certainly need a motorised dish of 80cms diameter minimum. I had 1 metre setup until about 3 or 4 years ago and yes you could view stuff from all over the place, mostly for Europe and Middle East. These days with digital transmissions rather than analogue I expect it is a lot different. You won't get US or Australian channels.
Buy the mag first, have a read and then decide if you want to go any further. Plenty of good advice and companies advertising equipment.

You'll only get asia channels that are re-broadcast from a satelite transmitting over europe; we will be too far out of the transmission footprint to get the signals direct from a satelite over that way.
It used to be possible to "unofficially" decrypt the old analogue Astra channels, but since Sky went digital, AFAIK it's not possible, with rumours that the Sky digital encryption may be effectively uncrackable.
