dvd/cd drive problems any ideas?

Default dvd/cd drive problems any ideas?

just wondering if anyone could help with this 1 went to use my dvd drive today but it it no longer seems to exist on my pc. have looked in devices with reomovable stoarage and all thats there is floppy ,removable disk (h and (i any ideas on how to sort this? cheers

The most obvious thing to check is to see if the cables are still seated ok?

cable all seem ok and there is still power to the drive (disc tray opens and shuts) .sods law the warranty ran out 5 days ago as well

HAd this happen to me...........

Swapping the IDE channels sorted it for me........

Take out the IDE cable and plug it in the 'other' channel on the board... and likewise if you have something already plugged in the 'other' channel....

e.g. whatever is in your primary IDE.... stick it in your secondary and vice versa...

(I was starting to get tongue tied)
