Smile Apple 30" Cinema display on a PC

Has anyone on here set one of these things up? Am having mega problems getting it to run the 2560x1600 resolution with an Nvidia 6800 ultra card.

Yes, I've tried the latest drivers....

I am not going to help you out of jealousy

Your graphics card does have dual-link DVI doesn't it? What exactly are the problems you're suffering?

Cheers,
Alex

Buy a Mac

I'm guessing you've Googled? I know there are a couple of PC's running these out there so they must be capable.

Try dropping to the base refresh rate of 60hz for the monitor refresh - till you get it set up.

It won't work with a normal 6800 card. It requires a card that can provide a dual-link dvi connection (which is different to just having 2 DVI outputs) and none of the normal geforce cards have this. The card apple ship the G5s with is a special card made for them that has two dual link outputs. There arent't many cards that can power it from a PC, the Quadro 3400 and 4000 will (but these aren't cheap) and Matrox have just released a special PCI version of the parhelia especially for this display.

This monitor definitely requires a specialised card to drive it. Even Apple machines have to be custom built with the Nvidia 6800 DDL card to get it to work. As suggested here it must be a dual DVI output card

I think there are two cards form the range you can use. See more info here

These screens are beautiful. Installed 2 for a client before Xmas on his G5's..

Made his current 23" screens look like 14" portables LOL
