Brought a 2nd hand one just for GT4 (as it happens WRC4 is good as well).
I hadn't played GT2 & 3 so for me it's all pretty new but if you played GT3 to death I'm not sure you'd get much more out of GT4?

Don't bother with GT4 its pants. Mine went on ebay after 20 mins. Totally unrealistic handling. Either buy GT3, or WRC4 which incidentally, is the best handling game ever. Daz

And for true realism and handling you want to get a copy of Richard Burns Rally, now that is real....

Ditto me, the car responses are so much more subtle than before, brake to hard into a corner and the car ploughs on, lift off th ebrakes it tucks back in, the tank slapper is really well executes, feels very natrual to me as opposed to most (if not all) the rally games where the cars seem to pivot round a central axis. The simulation of the various mods is great as well, try doing a donut in a RWD car without an LSD, you get what we used to get in Capris and Escorts, one wheel smoking like mad whilst going around in a circle, not a perfect LSD style donut.

I will concede that the onboard view was realistic, but I like to see the car move (rear view) and with this screen shot it was pants. The whole road moves and the car stays in the same place, AKA 1980 Pole Position.
You can usually get a feel for how a game handles in a few minutes and tell if it is any good or not, and it just aint.
I played GT3 for ages as it was good, probably one of the best games ever, but GT4 for me just doesn't rate.
Try playing WRC4. Now that is good, and it handles. Daz

To say GT3 is more realistic or better is nonsense, although not many major improvements in GT4 the biggest part for me is the improvement in physics/realism.

Daz - in all honesty if you play using the 'behind car' view, then you aren't simulating driving IMO. Take GTR, RBR and LFS all on the PC for example, used with a MOMO Racing wheel provides a very realistic driving experience and I couldn't lap anywhere near as fast using different view other than 'in car' on all these along with GT4 too (only have DS2 unfortunately
).
I'm not that clued up on the technical aspects of differences with GT3 & GT4 but the odd time I've used 'behind car' view in GT4 it seems identical to GT3, so if you thought that GT3 was "probably one of the best games ever" it must be really fcuked up for GT4 to be "pants"![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Also don't all modern/recent driving games keep the car you're driving centered when viewing behind the car?

I still prefer to see the car though, and clip an apex with wheels you can see. What I find myself doing "in car" is guessing where the wheels are, and bumping over the apex. Maybe its just me.
I do still think that more emphasis has been put on getting more cars in the game than on the actual handling progression from GT3 though. Seems like a backward step to me.
Most games do have a behind car view I agree, but on GT4 it seems that when you get the car sliding, the whole road spins in front of you, as if you were wearing horses blinkers, rather than the car actually feeling like its sliding. (ie a combination of the car pivoting slightly AND the road moving sideways)
It may all just be a matter of personal preference, but to me, GT3 and WRC4 rule. Daz
