Just got my pc upgraded last week, and never put any anti virus sofeware in it (but have NAV 2004), cos i thought i'd do it later. (didn't have the pc for a couple of weeks and needed to catch up!)
Now i seem to have a virus thats keeps sending copies of itself to my list of contacts on msn. And whem i try and go to anti virus sites, it won't let me. Also try to install norton but won't let me. Then tried booting from the norton cd, but that says no virus found..........
Also i can't go to sites that have the word "FILTER" in them for some reason.
any help would be good please
pretty please!

Have you tried booting in safe mode? do you have a firewall? try Sygate, don't rate norton at all, there are better anti-virus for free, try http://www.grisoft.com

If so download hijackthis, that will find what ever is running
Also try using Firefox if you don't already

You could try this manually edit your registry in safe mode
I would backup your registry first
Click Start > Run.
Type regedit
Then click OK.
Navigate to the subkeys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control \Lsa
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Ole
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Ole
HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Run
HKEY_USERS\.default\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Lsa
HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Ole
In the right pane, delete the value:
"CPQHotkeys" = "hotkeysvc.exe"
Exit the Registry Editor.
