There are newer versions of the mobility chip now which rival desktop cards. If u want decent gameplay in a laptop u need to look for one of these desktop replacement lappies, which have fast cpus and the latest mobility chip.

I've seen it run on a Dell Latutude XPS laptop. It's Dell version of the Alienware laptops and it runs very well. I am not sure which model and extras were added though.
I would find it difficult to use the keyboard on a laptop for gaming though, they are not as well spaced out IMO.

Alienware do a laptop with the GeForce Go 6800 and ATI Mobility RADEON X800.

I have an Alienware and tbh, I thought it was cheaply made, unreliable, and not that quick (despite the 3.2ghz P4 processor and Radeon 9700 gfx card).
I've now switched to using a Dell XPS Gen 2 machine. It's much quicker than the Alienware machine, and seems to be much better made. It come with a Nvidia 6800 Ultra pci-express gfx card with 256Mb of memory, so gfx performance is very good indeed. I can run Doom3 at max res, max detail, and still get over 60fps. Not done any benchmarking with HL2 yet, but it runs very smoothly indeed at high detail levels / resolution...
I'd never buy an Alienware machine again after my experiences with them (and their tech support)...
