Question BT Broadband

Hi,

just thinking about changing from the current shared internet connection within our office building to a dedicated one from BT.

They've 2 options:

Heavy User @ £29.99/month

Shared @ £45/month

The heavy user options comes with a USB modem whereas the shared option comes with an Intelligent Gateway Router - whatever that is !

We have a network switch with an uplink port that we connect to our internet router, currently Netgear Rp114. This lets up plug in all our PC's.

My question is can I somehow use the normal heavy user option with my current setup ? My router does not have a USB connection so how would I get round this?

If I can't, can I use the Intelligent Gateway Router with an internet router ??

cheers, Jai

go for the heavy user - The only thing that differs is that they will support 4 users on the shared connection. Given that the support people haven't the first notion about computers, there is no difference between no support for one person and no support for 4 poeple - not familiar with a netgear RP114, but if you do go for heavy user you can buy appropriate kit fairly cheaply (all sorted for under £100.00 but possibly quite a bit less if your switch will plug into the usb modem)

Cheers fast bloke

I'll have to see if I can get hold of a switch that supports USB modems

Only problem now is to see if I can change my order as I went ahead and ordered heavy user as the thread was a bit dead and I needed to order asap ! To make matters worse I came across Bulldog Broadband who do 8MB connections in Brum. for the same price as BT !!

thanks

Jai
